Bonded title

Optional rush preparation is $99 more: your packet is prepared ahead of the standard queue. WisDOT still sets its own processing time.
Bonded total on a minimum $2,500 bond, before sales tax: about $751 ($499 our fee, $214.50 state title fee, and a bond premium WisDOT says averages about 1.5% of the bond, about $38 here). Your surety sets its own price.

What is a bonded title?
It is how WisDOT titles a vehicle when you have the car but not the title or a complete chain of ownership. You apply first. WisDOT then sets the bond amount, 1.5 times the vehicle's value with a $2,500 minimum, and sends you a letter asking for a surety bond in that amount. The bond protects earlier owners and lenders if a claim to the car turns up later. You buy it from a licensed surety of your choosing. We take no commission.
Should I buy the kit or have you do it?
The $97 kit is for bonded titles. It explains forms MV2082 and MV1 field by field, and you fill them in yourself. If you would rather hand that off, we fill in the forms for you: $499 for a bonded title, $299 for other situations. Either way, you sign and mail the forms, and you pay the state fees and any bond yourself.
What happens after I pay?
We check your answers and prepare your forms. You get an email when they are ready to download, with a checklist of what to sign and include. You sign the forms and mail them to WisDOT with the state fees. For a bonded title, WisDOT later sends you a letter with the bond amount, and you buy the bond then and mail it in. Your case page shows each step. If you bought the $97 kit instead, you download it right after checkout.
How long does it take?
Preparing your forms is the quick part. After you mail them, WisDOT sets the timing. Bonded titles have extra steps: WisDOT researches the vehicle's ownership history, sends the bond letter, and issues the title only after it receives your bond. We do not promise dates that WisDOT controls.
What if WisDOT sends it back?
Email us a photo of what WisDOT sent. If the problem is in a form we prepared, we correct it and send it back to you to sign and mail. If WisDOT is asking for something only you can provide, such as a signature, a document or the bond, we tell you which item it is asking for.
Can I cancel and get a refund?

Is this a law firm?
No. We prepare documents at your direction. We are not a law firm and do not give legal advice. Anyone can file with WisDOT directly for the state fees alone.
What if my case isn't straightforward?
Some cases need a closer look, for example when records don't match. If that happens, we tell you, a person reviews it, and we explain what information is missing.
